About Judith Patague

Present

Judith Patague is a self-motivated and diligent graphic designer, with the aptitude for creativity and the discipline to execute design projects in a professional and timely manner. She started as a seasonal photo editor at Canvaspop after completing her Graphic Design Associate Certificate Program, with distinction (GPA of 97), at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

Past

Judith discovered her love for arts and design during her childhood years, and primarily wanted to take up an arts degree after finishing high school. However, she had to pursue a degree in health care, instead, out of necessity–but promised to herself that one day, she would somehow find a way to go after a creative career she would truly be passionate about.

Moving to Canada in 2016 offered lots of opportunities for her to explore different industries. Graphic Design particularly stood out to her as she had a similar background to it when she learned Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Flash back in high school. So after several years, she eventually decided to study Graphic Design at BCIT, in order for her to gain both the essential and advanced skill set needed for an aspiring graphic designer to achieve career readiness and success. Moreover, she had accumulated various experiences in the field through graphic design internships and casual jobs.

Future

Judith intends to enhance her existing skills and to even diversify into animation and motion design in the near future. She is resolved to stay focused on being the best in her craft by taking her creative abilities to the next level every time a milestone is achieved.

Other Interests

  • Fine Arts – I truly admire the masterpieces done by Leonardo da Vinci, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Sandro Botticelli, and Michelangelo among many others. Most of their works and their unique creative processes inspired me a lot in my own creative work.
  • Architecture – I am drawn to certain architectural styles found in Europe such as Art nouveau, Gothic, Victorian, etc. I particularly adore French architecture for its grandeur, intricacy, and symmetry.
  • Music – I generally love relaxing to Soul, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Chill hop, or Classical music. But if I want something more upbeat I like tuning in to J-pop, House, or R&B. I can also sing and play some piano.
  • Travel – Although I'm a homebody most of the time, I make it a point to travel whenever I have the time and resources to do so. But my travelling was not always just for leisure; I also had opportunities in the past to go to remote areas and help out people in need for a medical mission or cause.
  • Nature – As with most artists, I get daily inspiration from the beautiful natural elements in our environment. And so I thoroughly enjoy visiting parks and botanical gardens, and hiking trails and mountains in order to observe wildlife, as well.
  • Food – I am fond of trying out various types of food from different cultures and cuisines–be it street food, home cooked, or gourmet. Then at home, I also enjoy cooking meals and making pastries.
  • Photography – Though not a professional photographer, I do enjoy taking amateur images of things, people, and places that interest me. And I absolutely adore working with raster graphics/images in my graphic design projects.
  • History & Culture – Even as a kid, I would spend hours pouring over books about different events in the past and various cultures in the world that fascinate me. I also find it important to have the knowledge on certain historical and cultural events, as these could be related or influential to the society's current and future events.
  • Languages – I like challenging myself to learn new languages, especially whenever I travel. It is the most satisfying feeling being able to communicate and connect with local people using their native language or dialect.
  • Fashion – Personally, I prefer classic contemporary fashion pieces although ultra-modern and retro styles interest me too. Historical period costumes and ball gowns are fascinating to me, as well.
  • Writing – I truly enjoyed my time as a student journalist when I was at the university, and currently as a casual academic writing subject specialist. And by reading more and more books and educational materials, I get to develop this skill even further over time.
  • Technology – I've always been pretty confident working with computers, gadgets, and devices. And I like trying out new technological inventions whenever I get the opportunity to do so, including learning new computer or mobile programs and softwares.
